Arguably one of the best loved protein packed snacks, protein pancakes are definitely more exciting than the thin, sugar-laden pancakes we grew up loving. Diverse, quick to make, and DELICIOUS! Take your protein pancakes to the next level this Pancake Day with our top five favourite recipes. Have a flipping good time in the kitchen!

Banana Protein Pancakes

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 12ml skimmed milk 
  • 1 egg 
  • 2 tbsp oats 
  • 1 serve Maximuscle Chocolate Promax Lean 
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup 
  • 1 banana 
  • ½ tsp cinnamon 

METHOD: 

  1. Blend the protein powder, oats, egg and milk together in a bowl.
  2. Pour the mixture 1 ladle at a time into a non-stick frying pan, evenly spaced apart so the pancakes have room to spread. Cook for about 2 minutes per side. 
  3. Once cooked, top with cinnamon, banana and maple syrup

Fluffy Coconut Protein Pancakes

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 scoop of vanilla Maximuscle Promax Restore or Lean 
  • 1 large egg white 
  • ½ tbsp coconut oil 
  • 1/3 cup almond milk 
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder 
  • 2 tsp sweetener 

METHOD: 

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender, except the coconut oil  
  2. Add the coconut oil to a non-stick pan, once melted pour in your pancake mixture 
  3. Flip when bubbles appear on the surface to cook the other side 
  4. Plate up and top with honey, chopped banana and coconut flakes

Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Pancakes

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 serving of Maximuscle Cyclone 
  • 150-200g ripe banana 
  • 30g oats 
  • 1 tbsp cocoa 
  • ½ tbsp baking powder
  • Cinnamon 
  • 1 egg 
  • 50ml Water / Almond (start with 50ml and add small increments when needed) 

TOPPINGS: 

  • 1 Maximuscle Promax Lean bar 
  • Blueberries 
  • Tsp of peanut butter 
  • Sugar free syrup 

METHOD: 

The amount of liquid you add determines the thickness of the pancakes! Start small and add more if you would like a crepe style pancake.

  1. Pour wet ingredients into a blender 
  2. Pour dry ingredients into the blender 
  3. Blend until smooth
  4. Use fry light in a frying pan on a low/medium heat 
  5. Pour the mix into the pan into your preferred pancake size 
  6. Wait until a few air bubbles begin to form on the surface of the pancake before flipping 
  7. Flip and allow to cook until firm 
  8. Repeat process 
  9. Top with chosen toppings and enjoy!

Chocolate Protein Pancakes

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 30g Maximuscle Whey Protein Concentrate / Isolate
  • 1 Maximuscle Promax Lean Bar
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 large egg white
  • 50g oats 
  • Tbsp Cocoa 
  • ½ tbsp baking powder 

METHOD: 

  1. Pour wet ingredients into a blender
  2. Pour dry ingredients into the blender 
  3. Blend until smooth
  4. Use fry light in a frying pan on a low/medium heat 
  5. Pour the mix in the pan into preferred pancake size 
  6. Wait until a few air bubbles begin to form on the surface of the pancake before flipping
  7. Flip and allow to cook until firm 
  8. Repeat process 
  9. Top with chosen toppings and enjoy

Chunky Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Pancakes

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 30g Maximuscle Protein Concentrate / Isolate 
  • 1 Maximuscle Promax Lean Bar 
  • 1 Medium Egg 
  • 1 Large Egg White 
  • 50g Oats 
  • 1 tbsp Cocoa 
  • ½ tbsp Baking Powder 

METHOD: 

  1. Pour wet ingredients into a blender 
  2. Pour dry ingredients into the blender 
  3. Blend until smooth 
  4. Use fry light in a fry pan on a low/medium heat 
  5. Pour the mix in the pan as if you were cooking an omelette 
  6. Add chopped chunks of protein bar and wait until a few air bubbles begin to form on the surface of the pancake before flipping 
  7. Flip and allow to cook for one minute 
  8. Cut into quarters and stack 
  9. Top with chosen toppings and enjoy
